UFC 222: Cyborg vs Kunitskaya Betting Odds and Predictions
Cris Cyborg makes among the tiniest turnarounds in her career when she puts her UFC featherweight championship on the line vs Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 on March 3. Cyborg will enter this most important event as one of the biggest favorites that the UFC has seen in years.
However, once you get beyond the lopsided principal event, the remainder of the chief card is stacked with tough-to-call, aggressive bouts. In the time of this writing, none of the four fights on the main card outside the title bout has a favorite bigger than -190.
Cris Cyborg vs Yana Kunitskaya
We watch Cyborg (-1600) since she has made a career from destroying her opponents. Cyborg has always been among the most competitive fighters in the business but the featherweight champion has learned to exploit that and become more patient. The actual meat to her game is the jab, as Cyborg will throw the jab out before a competitor feels the necessity to fire back — then she’ll counter with quick, fight-ending goals.
Cyborg is a huge fighter that owns huge power for demanding work-related conflicts, though she’s technically well served in this area as well. Her normal equilibrium and core strength make takedown attempts typically unsuccessful.
Yana Kunitskaya (+800) is an unknown for many but she is far from a novice. The challenger has spent her whole life practicing martial arts and has a well-versed striking repertoire due for her extensive training in Muay Thai and taekwondo. Kunitskaya does her very best work when she can dictate the speed and space of a struggle, working from the outside with her kicks.
In terms of grappling, Kunitskaya is solid although largely relies on her sneaky strength. The technique still has not caught up fully, though there were noticeable improvements. If Kunitskaya can get high hands on the ground, she moves well and has good ground and pound.
